The central upgrade is graphical: its 16.7-TFLOP AMD RDNA-based GPU is paired with 16GB GDDR6 plus 2GB DDR5 memory, while PSSR reconstructs higher-resolution imagery from lower internal resolutions. Compatible games can combine sharper 4K presentation, higher frame rates and more sophisticated ray tracing, reducing the familiar PS5 choice between a sharp 30-fps Fidelity mode and a softer 60-fps Performance mode.

Hardware

The PS5 Pro includes a 2TB custom SSD, M.2 expansion, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.1, HDMI output, two USB-C and two USB-A ports. The CPU remains an 8-core/16-thread AMD Zen 2 design, making the GPU, ray tracing and PSSR the more consequential upgrades; importantly, the console ships without an optical disc drive, although Sony's compatible drive can be attached separately.
